Rehabilitation is an important part of a pet’s recovery or as an injury management process.
Over the years it has gained popularity and is more readily accessible to pet owners. As a mainstay in human medicine, rehabilitation in animals helps to bring about their quickest return to function.
Each patient’s rehabilitation program is tailored to their needs, based on a thorough understanding of their condition as well as your pet’s lifestyle prior to injury and your goals for future mobility.
We focus on injury rehabilitation, post-surgery rehabilitation and senior rehabilitation.
Some of the more common conditions we treat include:
Osteoarthritis
Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
Cranial Cruciate Ligament Rupture (Conservative and Post-operatively)
Hip & Elbow Dysplasia (Conservative and Post-operatively)
Patella Luxations (Conservative and Post-operatively)
Fracture repairs
Soft tissue injuries
Obesity
Spinal Injuries
We use a combination of hands-on practices, rehabilitation therapies, and different therapeutic modalities with the goal of reducing pain and optimising the healing process. We provide you with a home exercise schedule that compliments the work we do and is mentally enriching for your pet, at times when they may be confined to a small crate or pen.
Your pet’s progress is monitored regularly throughout the rehabilitation program through gait analysis, pain scoring, muscle mass measurements and functional range of motion testing. Using these data points, we adjust treatment plans to optimise your pet’s recovery to improve their quality of life.
Our rehabilitation service is a mobile service that comes to you, with the initial assessment up to 90 minutes and subsequent session up to 60 minutes.
If rehabilitation is something you are interested in pursuing for your pet, but you have more questions, reach out to us here or speak with your veterinarian today. If you are ready to get started, and your veterinarian has already sent through a referral you can start your Pre-Assessment Questionnaire here.
